Sandeep Reddy Vanga has opened up about Javed Akhtar’s criticism of Animal on Indian Idol.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who received a lot of criticism for his film Animal, recently responded to Javed Alhtar’s criticism of the film on a television show. Sandeep, during an appearance on Indian Idol, was asked to weigh on the subject after a contestant asked him to respond to Javed’s opinions.
Vanga responded by saying, “Javed Akhtar said it’s dangerous for society, and I agree with him. If Javed Ji wasn’t a lyricist or story writer, I’d take his words seriously.” Previously, in a chat with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Javed had said, “I didn’t express my opinion on Animal, I spoke about the audience that watched it. If 15 people have made a film with the wrong values, if 10-12 people make obscene songs, that’s not the problem. If 15 people are perverts among the 140 crore population, it doesn’t matter. When that thing goes on the market and becomes a superhit, that’s the problem.”
In the same episode, Sandeep also spoke about his relationship with the women in his life and spoke fondly about his mother. He said that because his relationship with his mother is smooth, the mother characters in his film turn out to be vanilla. He said that this side of his life doesn’t have much conflict so he can’t fabricate it on screen. “I’ve been criticised for not giving enough importance to the mother’s role in my films, but I’ve realised that in real life, I am much more attached to my mother. But since we don’t have any complaints in that relationship, there is no drama there or any angst that compels me to write about it. If I ever make a mother-son story, it will be very positive, nothing dark and only good vibes,” he said.
Sandeep is currently working on his next film with Prabhas, titled Spirit. He will also be directing Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal Park.
